Wikipedia is a web-based, free content encyclopedia operated by a non-profit organization
called Wikimedia Foundation. It’s content is written by volunteers.
The site uses a software that allows users to edit the articles thus, allowing anyone who has access to the internet the capability to edit and add content to the articles. Any changes in the articles are available immediately without undergoing any formal review. Wikipedia’s philosophy is that, allowing unmoderated collaboration from it’s users would provide more breadth, depth and accuracy and that any minor errors would be corrected in time. The software also provides hyperlinks in every article, allowing users to find other relevant articles.
Wikipedia currently boasts of having over 6 million articles in 250 language and is one of the top eleven most visited websites worldwide.
