Disney has announced that it has begun production of the next addition to their collection of Disney Princess movies.

Set for release in 2009, The Frog Princess is Disney’s newest addition to its Disney Princess collection. Starring a 19-year old African-American chambermaid named Maddy, the film is set in New Orleans, which according to Robert Iger, Disney’s Chief Executive, is a way to show their support to the city that has not yet fully recovered from the tragedy brought about by hurricane Katrina.

The film would be set in the 1920’s, reliving the Jazz Age, as it tries to revive Disney’s classic Broadway-style musical that have been very evident in the previous Disney Princess movies such as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. But this is not the only thing Disney will be doing to revive the Disney Princess tradition. Last month, Disney has pledged to return to the traditional hand-drawn animation technique that has made Disney a worldwide brand.

The film is to be written and directed by Ron Clements and Jon Musker. The two also directed Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. It was also said that the Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken would take charge of the music. Recently, it was reported that Jennifer Hudson – Osar Best Supporting Actress for Dream Girls, Anika Noni Rose – Tony Award Winner for Caroline, and Alicia Keys – multiple Grammy awardee, are being considered to be the voice of Maddy.

With all the preparations behind this film, Maddy would definitely one Disney Princess to look forward to.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants!

Spongebob is a square yellow sea sponge who lives in a pineapple house in an undersea city called Bikini Bottom. He has a pet snail named Gary and a best friend named Patrick, who is a pink starfish living under a rock. Most of the time, you’ll find them jelly-fishing or getting into all sorts of weird but funny situations that would definitely annoy their cranky neighbor Squidward, who works as a cashier at the Krusty Krab, where Spongebob works as a fry cook.

Together with their money-loving boss Mr. Krabs, his arch-nemesis Plankton, their adventure seeking squirrel friend Sandy Cheeks,and the entire ensemble of this underwater world, Spongebob is sure to crack up our day with his hilarious antics!

Kim Possible an animated series produced by Disney Channel. The show is about Kim, a cheerleading squad captain of Middleton High School. Aside from responsibilities in school and her family, Kim also has a bigger responsibility in her hands. In between homework and family issues, Kim find herself crossing the globe trying to fight crimes often caused by her arch-nemesis, the super-villain Dr. Drakken and his henchwoman, Shego. Kim does not do all this alone though. She is joined by her goofy partner, Ron Stoppable and his pet, the naked mole rat named Rufus.

The series premiered in June 2002 and immediately rose to popularity, even winning an Emmy award in 2005. The producers announced the conclusion of the show in February 2005 but due to the popularity of the program, Disney Channel put it back on air in February 10, 2007.

A Series of Unfortunate Events, a set of 13 books, details the experiences of the Baudelaire children – Violet, Klaus, and Sunny – after they have been orphaned when their parents died at a fire in their house.

After the death of their parents, they were shortly adopted by Mr. Poe, a banker who is a friend of their parents. Later on, they were sent to live with Count Olaf who is supposedly either the siblings’ third cousin four times removed, or their fourth cousin three times removed. Upon living with him, the siblings discover that he is an evil man who has set his eyes on the children’s inheritance.

Upon discovering Count Olaf’s evil motive, they constantly turn to Mr. Poe for help. The different books recount how Count Olaf disguises himself in order to get closer to the children and get his hands on their fortune.

The series also shows the different talents that each of the siblings posses. Violet is a skilled inventor, trying to invent things in order to help them in their adventures. Klaus likes to research and find new information. Sunny, the youngest of the three, has very sharp teeth that can bite anything. Later on, as Sunny grows from a baby to a little girl, she also discovers that she has a talent for cooking and speaking in sophisticated languages. All these talents help the Baudelaire children solve problems that come their way.

On December 2004, a movie version based on the first three books was released. It was officially called “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”. It starred Jim Carrey as Count Olaf.

As the title suggests, Lazy Town is about a town with people   prone to being lazy. Stephanie, the pink-haired girl comes to Lazy Town and meets a whole bunch of kids and adults. One of the adults, Robbie Rotten lives under the town and happens to be the laziest villains of all. He hates it when the kids start to become active and start to have fun.

Luckily, Lazy Town is also home to Sportacus, a super active hero that encourages the kids to be active. He helps Stephanie and her friends overcome the tricks of Robbie Rotten and guide them into making healthy lifestyle choices such as being active and eating fruits and vegetables or what he likes to call as “sports candy”.
